The "Race" Round Fyn - 2011
This years "race" did not quite
turn out as I had hoped for - - - -
Problem????? NO
WIND! - - - - - and a beautiful , old sailing ship that cannot spread
her wings is, - although still very beautiful -, not nearly as beautiful
as when all sails are set.
This time I have decided to
start out with a few pics of "Nakskov Havn 1", - an old harbour tug built
in 1914 -, and although she is obviously not a sailing ship, - but a motor
ship -, she is really built from wood, and her job during the "races" is
to support the old sailing ships when entering and leaving port.
Especially "Anna Møller"
needs some assistance when going alongside since she has no motor to help
with the port maneuvers.
Then "Nakskov Havn 1" , - or
just "NH 1" -, comes in handy! She was, - by the way -, in active
service as harbour tug in Nakskov until 2001, before she was replaced by
a new tug, "Nakskov Havn 2".
Since then she has been maintained
and run by a bunch of volunteers, who do a great job of restoring and preserving
this almost 100 years old relic.
Now she appears as she looked
in 1920.
